Discogenic pain
Discogenic pain is caused by annular tearing and is a source of lumbar or back pain. 39% of chronic back pain is due to discogenic pain. MRI or CT scanning only measures the abnormality of discs yet not whether the abnormality is associated with painful symptoms. Therefore, provocation discography is required for more accurate diagnosis.
Conventional discography
Constant speed may not be maintained during manual injection of contrast medium, which leads to discrepancy between actual intradiscal pressure and manometric pressure. The variables should be more precisely controlled for accurate interpretation of discography data.
APCD system
The APCD system is an automated discography system for diagnosis of discogenic pain. It is the most effective discography system developed through the study of advanced fluid dynamics, which overcomes limitations of conventional discography. The system provides accurate and reliable data for pre-surgical analysis of disc pain.
